The first question on everyone’s mind…
How much does a hot tub cost?
The cost depends on a variety of factors. Buying a hot tub is a little bit like buying a TV. You can buy a model that does everything you need for $200 or you can invest in a model with all the bells and whistles for $10,000+. The same is true for hot tubs. Size, material and features all play a role in the price. Fantasy® Spas start at $3,100* and are ideal for first-time buyers, second homeowners and renters. Hot tubs with all the bells and whistles retail for $14,000 or more.
How much does hot tub installation cost?
This, too, depends on the type of hot tub you purchase and your current electrical configuration. Most spas need a dedicated 220-volt electrical outlet, which requires a licensed electrician to set up. This will cost you several hundred dollars before you ever turn on your hot tub. The alternative is a plug-n-play model that can plug into any standard 110v outlet. Fantasy Spas come wired for 110v but you can convert all models to 220v if desired. A 110v hot tub allows you to start relaxing almost immediately with no extra start-up costs.
How much will it cost each month to run a spa?
How energy efficient your spa is will determine your monthly operating cost. When shopping for a new hot tub, select a spa with full foam insulation. This will maintain the water temperature throughout your soak and requires less energy to warm up the water. All Fantasy spas use full foam insulation, making them an energy efficient option to keep your operating costs low.
Do hot tubs come with a warranty?
Yes, most do have a warranty with varying degrees of coverage. All Fantasy spas come with a 5-year structure, shell and surface warranty and a 1-year warranty on equipment, plumbing and labor.
When comparing warranties, it’s important to consider the manufacturer and its reputation in the industry. Watkins Wellness™, the maker of Fantasy Spas, is the global hot tub leader who has built more than one million hot tubs with unsurpassed quality and long-term reliability. Watkins is a division of Masco Corporation, which has been around for over 80 years. To learn more about the Fantasy Spas warranty click here.
How easy is it to relocate my hot tub in case I move?
All Fantasy spas are lightweight; the average weight of a Fantasy Spa without water is only 330 pounds. This means moving a Fantasy hot tub is as easy as setting the empty spa on a furniture dolly and moving it to its new spot. A traditional acrylic spa is much more fragile and can weigh 1,000+ pounds without water. You should consult a professional spa mover to change the location of an acrylic hot tub.
What kind of accessories are available for the hot tub?
The most popular accessories bought for a hot tub are steps, cover lifters, spa side umbrellas and handrails to help people get in and out of the hot tub. Some Fantasy models even come with a built-in ice bucket for drinks!
What size hot tub do I need?
The size of your hot tub will largely depend upon your personal preference. If you have a large family and plan to entertain lots of friends at a time, a 5 to 7-person hot tub would best fit your needs. If you and maybe a significant other are the only ones planning to use it, a 2 to 3-person hot tub would be perfect!
What’s the most popular color?
Most hot tubs have color options to offer variety to match your home. Sand is the most popular color for Fantasy Spas, but not far behind, taupe and espresso are tied for second place.
Does winter climate affect your hot tub?
Yes, it does. But there are options to help keep your spa usable year-round, regardless of your climate. Fantasy Spas come with a locking thermal cover and full foam insulation, which keeps the water hot during all seasons of the year. If you live in colder climates that reach temperatures of -40°F or colder, it will be harder to keep the water hot. Having or converting your hot tub to a 220v is your best choice.
How often do you have to clean it?
We recommend draining and refilling the hot tub every 3 months, though you may need to change the cleaning frequency depending on how often you use it. Showering before use and not washing bathing suits with soap can help to extend the life of the water.
Happy hot tubbing!
