When Moments Become Memories
Each day can feel like one long sprint from the time the alarm goes off until you go to sleep that night. You have to walk the dog, get the kids ready for school, get through a day at work, drive the kids to their extracurricular activities, make dinner, clean up, complete homework and get the kids ready for bed…All to rinse and repeat the next day. Whew. It’s exhausting thinking about it.
When do you have time to rest?
That’s what the weekend is for, right? Nope, you have to mow the lawn, get the kids to play dates, clean, do laundry and finally fix that light that’s been flickering. You might find a few minutes to yourself to hit the gym, read a book, or relax but those moments are getting harder to come by.
So how do you slow down when there is no break in that relentless schedule? How do you make sure you’re not so busy running through life that you actually experience life, enjoy family time, and reconnect – with yourself, your family, your spouse?
It’s an age-old conundrum and, it comes down to being ready to embrace those moments when they appear.
Prepare yourself with these three tips:
- Take some time each day to put the phones down, shut off the TV, and walk away from all distractions. You can’t focus on what matters if you’re consumed by that device glaring at you.
- Stop every now and then to take a few deep breaths to help you stay in the moment. You won’t know a moment is there if you aren’t looking for it. And by the time you realize, it will most likely have passed. If you are in tune with yourself and stay present, you’ll be able to enjoy it.
- Go to your happy place. For many, routine is key—know where your happy place is and schedule time to go there each day.
If you don’t have a happy place where you feel at ease or where your loved ones can all be together, now’s the time to find one. Make sure it’s easy to get to, fun, good for a group or some “me time,” and a place where disconnecting happens naturally.
Water makes for a great happy place. It’s hard to not feel relaxed when you’re spending your day next to an ocean or lake. It also forces you to disconnect, no one likes a water damaged device!
Sadly, the majority of us do not live right next to a body of water or have access to a swimming pool, but there is a solution! With a hot tub, you can bring the easy-going mindset to your backyard. Hot tubs make an ideal escape. Everyone loves water so kids, parents, friends, grandparents all want to hop in. You’ll get the benefits of hydrotherapy paired with uninterrupted time, without having to travel far.
Fantasy Spas hot tubs are 110-volt. You simply plug it into a standard outlet, fill it up with a garden hose, and start hot tubbing within a day. No special wiring or electricians are required. Each Fantasy Spas hot tub is rotomolded which means they are less than 500lbs, easy to move to another location, and come in a variety of shapes/sizes so every home has room for a happy place.
There’s no better way to create memories than dedicated time without phones, enjoying the laughs and conversations that inevitably ensue.
Prepare to embrace those moments that become memories by having them as often as you can. That work email or load of laundry can wait!
